High Rates of Unemployment

It’s not an easy task for a trans person to get a job and a well-paying job, for that matter. 33 out of 50 states have no laws to protect gender identities, i.e., in over half of the U.S., you can be fired based on your transgender identity.

Almost half of the trans people report being fired, denied employment, or promotions due to their transgender identities. 90% of transgender people reveal that they are harassed at work regarding their transgenderism.

Due to discrimination, 14% of trans persons are unemployed compared to 7% of the general population. 15% live on less than $10,000 per annum.

Any other?

Some trans people, most often trans women, may not pass completely as the gender they identify as even after years of hormones. It may take expensive facial surgery or other surgeries to make these trans people look more like the gender they identify as. I have also known of a few trans women who are still perceived as male some of the time after both hormones and surgery because of their bone structure or other features.
