Despite the fact that people are difficult to please, many of us go to great lengths to win the hearts and minds of everyone. It is a continual struggle with one's self to judge one's value based on how others see one, yet there is a sense of satisfaction that comes from receiving their acceptance. Those who like us are a sign of acceptance and acceptance is a sign of belonging and belonging is a sign of value. It reduces the fear that others would turn against us since we know that they are pleased with our conduct.
It's easy to be sucked into the trap of trying to please everyone, but I'm here to tell you that it's pointless. Whatever you do, there will always be someone who has something bad to say. To remember, for every one dissatisfied individual there are roughly five others that love what you do and couldn't fathom living without you.
